Semantic Web - The Semantic Web is a project that intends to create a universal medium for information exchange by giving meaning (semantics), in a manner understandable by machines, to the content of documents on the Web. Currently under the direction of the Web's creator, Tim Berners-Lee of the World Wide Web Consortium, the Semantic Web extends the World Wide Web through the use of standards, markup languages and related processing tools.
Semantic mapper - A Semantic Mapper is tool or service that aids in the transformation of data elements from one namespace into another namespace. A semantic mapper is an essential component of a Semantic Broker and one tool that is enabled by the Semantic Web technologies.
WebOnt - WebOnt is the World Wide Web's Semantic Web Activity Working group on Web Ontology Language. The result of this group's effort has been in producing OWL - the Ontology Web Language.
OIL - OIL (Ontology Inference Layer or Ontology Interchange Language) can be regarded as an Ontology Infrastructure for the Semantic Web (see paper "OIL: An Ontology Infrastructure for the Semantic Web", IEEE Intelligent Systems, March/April 2001). OIL is based on concepts developed in Description Logic (DL).
